Priyanka Gandhi Got a Case on Her for Her Tweet on Pehelu Khan Mob lynching

A criminal case has got filled against Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in connection to a tweet she did relate to the acquittal of Pehelu Khan mob lynching accused. The trial court had given a verdict that all the accused are innocent and had acquitted all the six accused. Priyanka Gandhi criticized the court verdict saying it is shocking.

Lawyer Sudhir Ojha and his Allegations

Last Friday a lawyer named Sudhir Ojha in Bihar has filed a case against the congress firebrand leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. In his petition the petitioner has stated that “Today in Chief Judicial Magistrate court here, I have filed a criminal case against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra under the section of 504, 506, 153 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) and contempt of court in connection with her tweet regarding acquittal of accused in Pehelu Khan lynching case”.

Ojha has further said that the trial court has acquitted all the six accused due to lack of evidence, however, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had tweeted against the verdict and this can generate religious frenzy and it also a contempt of court.

“I have filled a case against Priyanka and the court has accepted it and announced that the hearing, in this case, will take place on August 26,” Ojha further said. Earlier Priyanka Gandhi had criticized the verdict with the word “Shocking”. She further tweeted she hoped the Rajasthan govt. will do justice in the matter.

The Root Cause of the Controversy

“The lower court’s decision in the Pehelu Khan case is shocking. In our country there should be no place of inhumanity and mob killing is a heinous crime” she said in a tweet. In another tweet, Mrs. Vadra said “Rajasthan govt.’s initiative to bring law against mob killing is commendable. Hope by getting justice for Pehelu Khan this will set a good example.”

Rajasthan and Anti-Mob Lynching Measures

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inform the people of Rajasthan that the state will file an appeal against the trial court order.Mr. Gehelot took to Twitter to assert that his government is committed to ensuring justice and said that stringent anti-lynching laws have been enacted in the state.

“Our state is committed government has enacted a law against mob lynching in the week of August 2019. We are committed to ensuring justice for the family of late Pehelu Khan. The state government will file an appeal against the order of Additional District Judge,” Gehlot tweeted. It is needed to mention here that the Rajsthan Assembly had on August 5 passed a bill to server life imprisonment and heavy fines to those convicted in mob lynching incidents after speed trials.

On April 1 in 2017 a 55-year-old dairy farmer from Haryana’s Nuh named Pehelu Khan was beaten up to death by cow vigilante mear Behrori in Rajasthan on the Delhi Alwar Highway. Two FIRs had got registered then om the case 1 against the attackers the other accusing Khan and his sons with allegedly taking cattle in his truck without requisite permissions.
