TTV Dinakaran’s answers are quite unclear as he stated he doesn’t know the middleman in the beginning and later admitted he know the middleman. The audio tape of TTV Dinakaran and the middleman was submitted to the court today and the Delhi Police arrested him on 26th April early morning. He was arrested with his friend Mallikarjun, both will be taken to the court on 26th April, 10:00 AM.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch had registered a case against Dinakaran and his associates for allegedly attempting to bribe Election Commission officials with Rs. 50 crore. The Crime Branch had also issued a look-out notice against him.
After his arrest, Dinakaran was sent to judicial custody for two weeks and was later released on bail. Dinakaran’s arrest was seen as a major blow to the AIADMK as it was embroiled in a bitter political feud following the death of its leader, J Jayalalithaa. The arrest was seen as a major setback to the Dinakaran faction of the party which had been trying to gain control of the party and its ‘two leaves’ symbol.
The AIADMK has since been split into two factions, one led by Chief Minister Edapadi Palaniswami and the other by Ex-CM O. Panneerselvam. The Election Commission is yet to officially recognize either faction and the ‘two leaves’ symbol is yet to be allocated to either faction.
