Paris 2024: Day 7 Medal Highlights

Record-Breaking Performances

Noelle Malkamaki of the USA set a new world record in the women’s shot put F46 event. She became the first woman in her category to throw 14 meters, breaking her own record twice during the competition. Malkamaki’s performance was a highlight of the day, demonstrating her exceptional skill and dedication. Her achievement was celebrated by fans and fellow athletes alike, marking a significant milestone in Paralympic history.

Paris 2024: Day 7 Medal Highlights

In the swimming events, Jessica Long of the USA won her 30th Paralympic medal with a gold in the women’s 400m freestyle S8. Long’s consistent performance over the years has made her one of the most decorated Paralympians. Her victory in Paris added another chapter to her illustrious career, inspiring many young athletes. Tunisia’s Raoua Tlili continued her dominance in the women’s discus F41, winning gold and adding to her impressive medal tally. Tlili has now won both the shot put and discus titles at three consecutive Paralympic Games. Her consistency and excellence in these events have made her a standout athlete, admired by many. Wheelchair Tennis Triumphs

The first wheelchair tennis medals of the Paris 2024 Games were awarded on Day 7. Dutch athletes Sam Schroder and Niels Vink defended their quad doubles title, winning in straight sets against Great Britain’s Andy Lapthorne and Gregory Slade. The victory was particularly special for Schroder and Vink, as they celebrated with friends and family in the stands. Their teamwork and skill were evident throughout the match, earning them well-deserved gold medals.

In the quad singles event, Schroder and Vink will face each other in the final, promising an exciting showdown between the two teammates. Harvinder Singh became the first Indian archer to reach a Paralympic final, securing a medal for his country.
