The Mobile World Congress 2024, the world’s largest mobile show, was held in Barcelona, Spain, from February 26 to March 1. The event showcased some of the latest innovations and trends in the tech industry, from wearable devices to artificial intelligence. Here are some of the highlights from the show that caught our attention.

Motorola’s Concept Phone That Wraps Around Your Wrist

Motorola, a brand owned by China’s Lenovo, unveiled a concept smartphone that can bend along a spine-like hinge, allowing it to wrap around your wrist like a bracelet. The device, called the “adaptive display concept”, has an interface that changes depending on how it bends. It also has a feature that can generate a background to match your outfit. The phone is not yet ready for mass production, but it demonstrates Motorola’s vision for the future of flexible screens.

Lenovo’s Transparent Laptop

Lenovo also revealed a concept laptop with a transparent screen, which can display information about objects placed behind it. The laptop’s camera can identify the object, and then use artificial intelligence to show relevant data on the screen. For example, if you place a book behind the screen, the laptop can show you the summary, reviews, and price of the book. The transparent laptop is still a prototype, but it could have potential applications in education, entertainment, and e-commerce.

Tecno’s Expandable Smartphone

Tecno, another Chinese brand under Transsion, showed off the Phantom Ultimate, a smartphone with an expandable screen. The screen can extend horizontally by pressing a button on the top of the device, giving you more screen space for watching videos, playing games, or multitasking. The Phantom Ultimate is expected to launch later this year, and it could be a competitor to the foldable phones from Samsung and Huawei.

Humane’s AI Pin

Humane, a company founded by former Apple employees, introduced the AI Pin, a small device that attaches to your clothing. The AI Pin can act as a personal assistant, answering your questions and taking pictures. The device also has a laser projector that beams a menu onto your hand, which you can navigate with hand gestures. The AI Pin is designed to be a discreet and convenient way to interact with technology, without the need for a screen or a voice.

OPPO’s Augmented Reality Glasses

OPPO, one of the leading smartphone makers in China, presented the Air Glass 3, a prototype set of augmented reality glasses. The glasses have a voice assistant and a camera, and they can project virtual images onto the real world. The glasses can also connect to your smartphone, and let you control it with your eyes. The Air Glass 3 is still in development, but it could offer a new way of experiencing immersive content and entertainment.

Samsung’s Smart Ring

Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, launched its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. The ring is equipped with sensors that can track your heart rate, blood pressure, sleep patterns, and stress levels. The ring can also sync with your smartphone and other Samsung devices, and let you control them with gestures. The Galaxy Ring is part of Samsung’s strategy to expand its wearable portfolio, and to offer more health and wellness features to its users.

Xiaomi’s Robot Dog

Xiaomi, another major player in the global smartphone market, showcased the CyberDog 2, an advanced version of its robotic dog. The CyberDog 2 has a sleek design inspired by a German Shepherd, and it can perform various tasks and tricks, such as dancing, jumping, and shaking hands. The robot dog also has a camera and a microphone, and it can recognize faces and voices. The CyberDog 2 is available for purchase online, and it costs around $1,500.

These are just some of the products that were displayed at the Mobile World Congress 2024, which gave us a glimpse of the future of tech. From smart rings to robot dogs, these gadgets show how technology can become more flexible, transparent, adaptive, and intelligent.
