Nothing, the company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has launched its third smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2a, in India and other markets. The phone features a transparent design, a custom-made MediaTek processor, and a dual 50-megapixel camera setup. It also comes with a Glyph Interface that allows users to personalize the lighting effects on the back of the phone. The Nothing Phone 2a is priced at Rs. 23,999 for the base variant and will go on sale via Flipkart from March 12.
A Unique Design with a Glyph Interface
The Nothing Phone 2a is the first non-flagship smartphone from the company, which aims to compete in the mid-range segment. The phone has a unique design that showcases its internal components through a transparent plastic shell. The phone is made of recycled materials from previous Nothing products, such as the Nothing Ear (1) and the Nothing Watch. The phone is available in two colours: White and Black.
The phone also features a Glyph Interface, which is a set of three LED lights on the back of the phone that can be customized by the user. The Glyph Interface can display different colours, patterns, and animations depending on the user’s preferences, mood, or notifications. A Powerful Performance with a Custom Chipset
The Nothing Phone 2a is powered by a custom-made MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, which is based on a 4nm process and has an octa-core CPU and a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The chipset is designed to deliver a powerful performance, especially for gaming and multitasking. The phone also supports 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
The phone comes with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 14 with Nothing OS 2.5, which is the company’s own operating system. The phone will receive three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. The Nothing Phone 2a has a dual-camera setup on the rear, which consists of two 50-megapixel sensors. The flash sale will be available in various locations in India and will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. The flash sale will start on March 6, 2024, from 5 PM onwards.
