In a significant development, the Cyber Crime Police Station (PS) has apprehended an individual responsible for creating fraudulent online gaming websites that impersonated a well-known casino company. The accused, operating under multiple website domains, utilized false logos, brand names, and casino imagery to deceive unsuspecting users. This illicit operation violated both the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Trademarks Act by unlawfully using the complainant’s trademarks and impersonating their company
The arrest came after diligent investigation, revealing that the prime suspect, Adla Nithin Reddy, a 22-year-old dropout from Vignana Bharti Institution of Technology in Hyderabad, orchestrated the scheme for monetary gain. Reddy, who had studied Computer Science, utilized the assistance of an artificial intelligence app to develop the fraudulent websites hosted via the domain provider “Hostinger.” Tracking Reddy’s movements across different locations in India, a team from the Cyber Crime PS apprehended him at a five-star hotel in South Goa.
The Deceptive Operation
The fake websites operated under various domains, including game-bigdaddy.com, bigdaddygames.co, and bigdaddy-games.in. These websites featured the Big Daddy Casino logo, brand name, and photographs, creating an illusion of legitimacy. However, behind the scenes, Reddy exploited unsuspecting users, enticing them to participate in online gaming activities.
Unraveling the Web of Deceit
Reddy’s intricate web of deceit spanned different locations, making it challenging for authorities to track him down. By analyzing collected data, investigators pinpointed his current location in Hyderabad. A team led by Police Inspector Deepak Pednekar, Police Sub-Inspector Sanit Kavlekar, and Head Constables Yogesh Khandeparkar and Nazir Sayed swiftly apprehended Reddy, revealing the extent of his fraudulent operation.
