Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 Promises a New Era of Foldable Phones with AI and Ultra-Thin Design

Samsung is gearing up for a big reveal. The first teaser for its upcoming foldable flagship hints at a leap in user experience, blending design and smart features into one compact package. Forget just small tweaks—this looks like a proper shakeup.

A Foldable That’s More Than Just a Phone

Samsung’s pitch? The new foldable device isn’t just a phone; it’s a smart companion. Fold it up, and you get a handy, portable gadget ready for voice-controlled AI tasks on the fly. Imagine asking your device to find a restaurant or shoot off a message without fumbling through apps. That’s the promise.

The teaser also boasts a “powerful camera” for capturing moments instantly. But here’s the kicker: AI won’t just help with photos. It’s supposed to enhance messaging, browsing, and even gaming. So, your day-to-day use isn’t interrupted by bulk or clunky tech—just smooth, seamless help.

Samsung’s “Ultra” experience means top-tier hardware paired with AI designed specifically for this foldable format. This is no generic upgrade; it’s tailored to make the most of the device’s unique shape and size. The Galaxy Ultra line’s reputation for cutting-edge gear is clearly the benchmark.

Unfolding Into a Portable Powerhouse

Flip the device open, and you’re not just holding a bigger screen. Samsung describes the unfolded Z Fold 7 as an “immersive entertainment hub,” a “spacious workspace,” and a “multitasking powerhouse.” It’s meant to be flexible for whatever you throw at it—movies, work emails, multiple apps running side by side.

This part of the experience also leans heavily on AI. Samsung says its Galaxy AI features are designed with the foldable form in mind, pushing the idea that this isn’t just a bigger screen but a smarter one too.

The line “The Ultra experience is ready to unfold” nails it. It’s like Samsung’s saying, “You thought foldables were neat before? Wait ‘til you see this.”

What to Expect: Specs and Features of the Galaxy Z Fold 7

Leaks and rumors have been swirling. The main display is tipped to be 8.2 inches when unfolded, with a 6.5-inch cover display on the outside. Thickness? That’s where it gets a bit murky—some sources say it will be 3.9mm thick unfolded, which would make it the thinnest foldable ever. Others suggest 4.54mm, which is still impressively slim.

Battery-wise, Samsung seems to be sticking with a 4400mAh cell. But here’s the good news: charging speeds are reportedly doubling from 25W to 45W wired fast charging. That could shave off a lot of downtime and get you powered up faster than before.

For creatives and note-takers, the S Pen is getting an upgrade too. Rumors say it’ll have a thicker tip, which should make writing and drawing on that foldable screen feel more natural. No more awkward scribbles or clumsy taps.

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event for this device is expected in early July 2025. While the exact date is still under wraps, the hype is definitely building.

Samsung’s Vision for the Future of Foldables

Samsung’s teaser points to a bigger strategy, where foldables become more than just niche gadgets. The push is for devices that blend portability with powerful performance, AI integration, and versatility in real-world use.

It’s interesting to see how Samsung is placing AI front and center—not as an add-on, but as a core part of the user experience. From voice commands to smarter multitasking, this could reshape how we think about mobile computing on foldable hardware.

This approach could also pressure competitors. Apple’s rumored foldable is still a mystery, and other Android makers are chasing foldable tech too. Samsung clearly wants to keep the lead, betting on a mix of sleek design and smart software.

The Foldable Market: Growth and Challenges

Foldables aren’t exactly new, but they’ve struggled with price and durability concerns. Samsung’s continuous push signals confidence in the market’s growth.

Here’s a quick look at how foldables have evolved:

Year Key Foldable Releases Price Range Market Response
2019 Samsung Galaxy Fold $1,980 Mixed reviews, durability issues
2020 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip $1,380 More affordable, trendy design
2023 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 ~$1,800 Improved durability, better software
2025 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (expected) TBD Focus on AI, ultra-thin design

Despite a rocky start, foldables are inching closer to mainstream appeal. Samsung’s latest hints show a move to win over users who want practical innovation, not just flashy features.

Will this “Ultra” experience be enough to tip the scales? Only time will tell. But if Samsung’s teaser is any indication, we might soon see foldables taking center stage in mobile tech again.
