Visit tnresults.nic.in, enter your registration number plus date of birth to view the mark sheet, and if you feel any subject is unfairly marked, submit a revaluation request through your school within the announced window.
The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations keeps the process largely online, yet there are a few real world steps that still matter. This guide walks you through every stage so you can check the result quickly, understand what the numbers mean, and contest any paper without missing a deadline.
Where and When TN 12th Results Are Published
The Directorate usually releases Plus Two results in the first half of May, right after a press conference at the Secretariat in Chennai. Within minutes the scorecards go live on three official portals: tnresults.nic.in, dge.tn.gov.in and dge1.tn.nic.in. Indian Express reported that in 2023 the website handled over six lakh hits during the first hour, so be ready for slow loading.
Result data shows why the announcement attracts massive attention. In 2023 the overall pass rate was 94.03 percent according to The Hindu. Girls scored 96.38 percent while boys recorded 91.45 percent, reflecting a gap that has stayed roughly similar for five years.
Step by Step Guide to Access Your Scorecard
A working internet connection and the hall ticket are all you need.
- Open any of the three official sites.
- Click the Higher Secondary Examination result link.
- Type the registration number exactly as on the hall ticket.
- Enter the date of birth in dd mm yyyy format.
- Press the Get Marks button.
- Wait for the digital mark sheet to appear, then use the download or print option.
Many students refresh the page repeatedly during peak traffic. Try a quiet slot such as early morning if the site refuses to load. Also keep screenshots until the school hands over the provisional certificate because the link often expires after thirty days.
Understanding the Digital Mark Sheet and What It Means
The online sheet is provisional yet legally valid for immediate uses like college counselling and scholarship applications. It lists subject wise marks, internal assessment, total, grade, and result status. If you see A for absence despite attending, inform your principal at once; clerical errors sometimes slip through.
Grades follow the 200 point scale. Scores from 180 to 200 earn grade A1, 160 to 179 grade A2, and so on, down to less than 40 marked as fail. Remember that colleges often look at raw marks during cut off calculation, not the grade alone. Keep a PDF copy in multiple locations including cloud storage; duplicate copies from DGE later require an application and fee.
One new change from 2022 is the QR code printed at the bottom. Scanning it with the National Academic Depository app verifies authenticity, a step welcomed by universities that admit out of state applicants.
Revaluation, Retotalling and Answer Script Copy: What Are Your Options?
Feeling short changed by a couple of marks can be frustrating, especially when those points decide a medical or engineering seat. The Board therefore offers three remedies.
Retotalling checks the arithmetic. Evaluators recount the marks already awarded but do not re‑read answers. This is sensible if you are certain about the answers but suspect a counting slip.
Revaluation involves fresh assessment by a new examiner. Available only for subjects in which you scored at least 20, it can increase or decrease marks depending on the second reading.
Answer script copy gives you a scanned PDF of your booklet. Many students opt for this first, then decide on revaluation. The DGE highlights that nearly 70 percent of successful revaluation cases had ordered the copy before challenging, indicating that evidence helps.
Who should apply
- Students missing a cut off by less than five marks
- Candidates seeing an unexpected fail in one paper when aggregate is high
- Anyone preparing for competitive exams who wants clarity on weak areas
Applications are routed through the school using a form downloaded from dge.tn.gov.in. Individual online submission is not permitted to avoid identity mismatch.
Important Dates and Fees at a Glance
Process | Application Window (approx.) | Fee per Subject | Result Publication |
---|---|---|---|
Photocopy of answer script | Day 1 to Day 5 after result | ₹275 | Within two weeks |
Retotalling | Day 1 to Day 5 after result | ₹205 for language papers, ₹102 for others | Within two weeks |
Revaluation | Two days after copy is supplied, open for three days | ₹505 | Within three weeks |
The Directorate shares exact dates in the press release that accompanies the result. Keep an eye on dge.tn.gov.in notices or ask the school office, because missing the five day window leaves no second chance.
Common Mistakes While Applying and How to Avoid Them
Many applications are rejected for avoidable errors.
Students often tick the wrong subject code. Cross check the three digit code printed next to the subject in the mark sheet.
Payment mismatch can also spoil the effort. Fees must be deposited through the school in a single demand draft or online transfer as advised. Partial or excess payment leads to cancellation.
Handwriting issues matter since forms are still processed manually. Use block letters for name and clear digits for registration number.
- Do not staple multiple forms together
- Keep a photocopy of your filled form and fee receipt
- Track the acknowledgment number that the school forwards
By paying attention to these small details you improve your odds of a smooth revision process.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the online result link stay active?
Usually about one month. Download and store the PDF immediately.
Can I apply for revaluation if I failed a subject?
Yes, provided the original mark is at least 20. If it is below 20 you can only request retotalling.
Is the provisional mark sheet enough for college admission?
Colleges under Anna University and most autonomous institutions accept it until the original certificate is issued in July.
What happens if marks decrease after revaluation?
The lower mark will stand. Think carefully before applying.
Can private candidates apply for revaluation directly?
Private candidates must also route requests through the exam centre where the hall ticket was issued.
When will the revaluation result be published?
DGE releases revised marks on the same portals used for the main result, normally within three weeks.
Are answer script copies sent by email?
No. Schools receive the downloadable PDF through their login and then share it with students.
Conclusion
Checking the TN Plus Two result is quick if you have the hall ticket handy, and the state offers clear steps for retotalling or revaluation when needed. Share this guide with classmates and drop a comment if any part of the process still feels confusing.

Hi VK
According to the sources, the last date of the applying revaluation is today (18 May). I think that you might aware on it. You can apply through your school. The Last date for New User Online Registration/Payment of TNEA is 31st May 2017. So, it is expected that the TNBSE will declare the revaluation results on before of May 31st. There is no official update from the DGE. We will update in this page after the declaration of the revaluation result date by officials.
Thank You
@ Chandrapraba You first apply for the copy of answer sheets. Confirm whether the marks will raise or not. Once it is confirmed with an increase in marks then apply for the revaluation on or before the last date of submission.
Sir i would like to reevaluate my papers. So I want to know that what is should be attached in the online registration. And also i need to know that when will be the reevaluate papers how can get it sir ??
how many days it will take for revaluation resuts. After results can i able to appy for anna university councling or there will be some for summitin the online form sir .
I want to apply for revaluation
i want to apply for revaluation sir but if therre is no any correction in the paper the mark will be reduced
Hi Chandrapraba, thanks for your comment. If they find any mistakes, there is a chance for reducing the marks. it is applicable, but mostly they don’t do that. They check your paper and see if they can boost your mark, if no way, they just mark it as ‘No Change’. I hope this helps.
Don’t worry about marks getting reduced, just apply for revaluation if you are confident. Good luck 🙂
I want to apply for revaluation sir
