In a surprising turn of events, Wilton police have confirmed that initial reports of a kidnapping were false. The incident unfolded on Friday, leading to a multitown car chase that ended in a crash. Contrary to earlier information, no one was abducted.
Around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Wilton police began pursuing a vehicle after receiving reports of a possible abduction. The girl initially believed to be kidnapped managed to exit the vehicle near Tanglewood Court in Ridgefield. However, the vehicle continued north on Main Street, ultimately crashing into another car on Catoonah Street. The four juveniles inside fled the scene, but police later apprehended all of them.
Catoonah Street, which intersects with Main Street and provides access to the post office and the Ridgefield Shopping Center, was temporarily closed after the incident.
