Private sector general insurer HDFC ERGO General Insurance has announced a significant leadership transition. Anuj Tyagi, who has been with the company since 2008, will succeed Ritesh Kumar as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective July 1, 2024. The necessary regulatory approvals for this transition have been secured, aligning with the earlier announcement made to the stock exchange on January 13, 2024, and approved by the Board.

Anuj Tyagi’s extensive experience within HDFC ERGO positions him well to lead the company into its next phase of growth. Having held various positions within the organization, Tyagi was promoted to Joint Managing Director in April 2023. His leadership and vision will undoubtedly shape the future of HDFC ERGO.
Ritesh Kumar’s Legacy
Ritesh Kumar, who has served as MD & CEO for an impressive 16 years, will transition to a new role. He will join the Board of Management of ERGO International starting October 4, 2024. In his new capacity as Deputy COO, Kumar will focus on growth markets in Asia, including China, Thailand, and Singapore. His remarkable leadership has left an indelible mark on the company, its brand, and its market position.
